Itinerary

Paleontology tour 6 days

Tour  highlights: Yol Valley/Flaming Cliffs/Nemegt Mountains/Noyon Uul/Hongoriin Dunes
Tour Description: Most interesting way to discover the secrets of the Gobi desert, its wildlife and find out about the dinosaur skeleton findings by visiting the excavation sites followed by a documentary of Andrew Roy Chapman expedition in Mongolia from the lectures of Mr. Perlee, a professor of Paleontology of the Mongolian State  University.

Day 1 Fly to Gobi Ger-camp. Visit the Yol Valley and Gobi Gurvan Saikhan (3 beauties of the Gobi)-high rocky mountains in the middle of desert. Argali sheep and Siberian ibex are local inhabitants. Next morning into the desert... exploring Gobi plants, wildlife and Saksaul forest. Overnight in tents.

Day 2 Drive to famous Flaming Cliffs or Bayanzag -the dinosaur graveyard with mongolian paleontologist, professor A. Perlee. Overnight in gers.

Day 3- 4 Drive to Gurvan Tes soum and visit Nemegt mountains, where dinosaur skeletons such as : Prenocephale prenes, Homalocephale calthoceros were found. On the way there visit Noyon Uul a dead volcano and a famous cliff that shines like a mirror. Overnight in tents.

Day 5 In the morning drive to the Hongoriin Els - a huge sand dunes and oasis near the Hongoriin River at the northern edge of the dunes. Overnight in tents under the stars.

Day 6 Return to ger - camp.

Price Includes: All transportation between tour sites in Mongolia by air, bus, or rail; Mongolian invitation. Accommodations and three meals per day at double occupancy. National and local guides.

Does not include international airfare or travel to Mongolia, airport departure taxes, visa, baggage overweight charges, or tips and gratuities for the drivers, local guides, porters and the national guide, $40.00 wire transfer fee. Does not include first or last night's accommodations or meals in Ulaanbaatar.
