Tour highlights: Terelj National Park/Yol Valley and Hongoriin Sand Dunes/Flaming Cliffs/Kharkhorin/Erdenezuu  Monastery/Zanabazar Museum of Fine Arts/Gandan Monastery

Day 1 Arrive in Ulaanbaatar the capital of Mongolia and meet with your English speaking guide, transfer to Bayangol Hotel. Welcome dinner in the evening.

Day 2 After early breakfast drive to Gorkhi Terelj National Park, a beautiful alpine park with interesting geological formations, located about an hour from Ulaanbaatar. Lunch. Back to Ulanbaatar. Mongolian Circus in the evening.

Day 3 Early morning fly to S. Gobi. You'll be met at the airport by our staff with jeep, van, bus depending on group size. City tour of Dalanzadgad . Visit to aimag's fire station, hospital, museum. Drive to Yol Valley a beautiful rocky mountain in the middle of Desert. Picnic lunch there. Hiking in Gurvan Saikhan Uul. Drive back to ger -camp "Tuvshin". Overnight in gers.

Day 4 After early breakfast drive to Sand Dunes "Hongoriin Els". Hiking in dunes. Visit to camelbreeder's family. Camel riding. We'll overnight in tents in Dunes allowing for excellent star gazing under Mongolia's clear skies.(ger camp)

Day 5 Drive to Bayanzag or Flaming Cliffs dinosaur graveyard, where dinosaur petrified bones and eggs are still being found. Lecture on paleontology and findings from this area. Overnight at ger-camp.

Day 6 Fly back to Ulaanbaatar. Visit to Fine Arts Museum. The greatest display of Mongolian Buddhism art. Art work of famous Zanabazar. Cultural Folk performance in the evening.

Day 7- 8 Drive  to Karakorum. Visit to Erdenezuu Monastery ( the first Buddhist Center in Mongolia) and observe the monks as they perform their morning prayers and rituals. Inactive during Communist years, Erdenezuu Monastery is also now fully functioning.Surrounded by 108 stupas Erdenezuu has been a place of Buddhist activity for more than 1,000 years. After lunch drive to Baruun huree Monastery, also known as Shant Hiid. Established in 1647, this monastery quickly became a major center of Buddhis teaching and religioius activivty. Almost completely destoyed beginning in 1937, many of the monastery's most sacred articrafts and books were secreted away and now from the basis of its restoration . Visit to a horsebreeder's family. Return to Kharakorum for dinner and overnight at ger

Day 9 Drive to Ulaanbaatar or drive back. ( If driving stop by at BayanGobi camp for lunch. The journey takes about 7 hours by vehicle.) In the afternoon visit to Bogd Khan Palace Museum.

Day 10 Depart for Beijing
