Richard G. MacKenzie MD. FAAP

Brief Bio –

Dr MacKenzie is Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Medicine at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine. In addition to his clinical and teaching responsibilities at the University and Children's Hospital of Los Angeles, he had made a commitment, through medical education, to improving the health of children and adolescents in developing countries. He has worked as a medical consultant to WHO in Geneva on an innovative street childrens project that reaches out to improve access to care for disenfranchised and lost children. He also developed a team of expert pediatric clinical consultants to work with the Guanghou Children's Hospital in mainland China to improve knowledge and skill of their pediatricians and surgeons over a 3 year period. He has also provided assistance to the Western Pacific Regional Office of WHO in developing curriculum to improve medical services to adolescents in countries on the Pacific Rim.

Dr MacKenzie is presently the Director of the Division of Adolescent Medicine at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. He has also been an invited lecturer to international audiences in Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, Geneva, London, China, Manila, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. He received his medical education at McGill University in Montreal, Canada where he completed his postgraduate training in internal medicine. He has been recognized, during his medical training, as one of Canada’s Outstanding Young Men. He has also received outstanding achievement award recognition by the Society for Adolescent Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics for his contributions to the field of adolescent medicine and health.
