Brief
Bio –
The 'Queen of the Venice' , Mary Lou was a longtime independent Venice
activist, associated with the Catholic Worker, the Venice Town Council,
and
various Buddhist organizations. She was a peace activist who attended
memorials and peace actions at Hiroshima and Auschwitz. She was a supported
of the Grafton Peace Pagoda project. She worked as a social worker
for the
county of Los Angeles for many years and was an icon of political activism
and community spirit in Venice, where she was particularly associated
with
The Beachhead newspaper, the Venice Town Council, and the Canals Festival.
She is survived by one daughter.
